About Us

At Konocti View Optometry, we provide thorough, personalized eye care for patients in Lakeport and the surrounding Lake County communities. Our experienced eye doctor takes the time to understand your concerns and tailor each visit to your needs, whether you’re here for a routine eye exam, updated glasses or contact lenses, or care for conditions like dry eye, glaucoma, or diabetic eye disease.

We are also the only optometry office in Lake County consistently offering same-day appointments for emergency eye exams on the days we are open. You shouldn’t have to drive hours away or wait for days when something feels wrong with your vision.

We’re honored to serve a diverse community, and many of our team members are bilingual, providing care in both English and Spanish.

Meet our optometrist

Dr. Emmalena Boyd, O.D.

It takes much more than a degree to be a successful and loved practitioner. It takes patience, understanding, and true passion for the community. All these things are what make Dr. Boyd an outstanding optometrist. She is paving a path of genuine consideration, talent, and expertise for the eye care needs of Lake County.

Dr. Boyd is a proud member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and Redwood Empire Optometric Society.

A native of Lake County, Emmalena Boyd, OD, returned to her home community after graduating from the University of California at Berkeley, School of Optometry. Her areas of care include providing primary care eye exams, glasses and contact lens prescriptions, glaucoma and macular degeneration management, and diabetic eye exams. She also treats eye infections, dry eye, and double vision, removes ocular surface foreign bodies, and more. Dr. Boyd loves helping her patients of all ages to see better and educating them about their eyes and ocular health.

More about Dr. Boyd

Dr. Boyd is a graduate of Lower Lake High School. She grew up in Lake County and saw the lack of care available in the area. This inspired her to pursue a career in medicine and return home to provide comprehensive eye care to her community.

Along with her husband, she remains closely connected to Lake County and values the opportunity to give back to the community that helped shape them. She has volunteered at local schools to provide free vision screenings, participated in career days, and supported initiatives such as sober grad events and literacy fundraisers, with plans to expand these efforts as the practice grows.

Beyond this, she has also been on two mission trips to Nicaragua and the Philippines, where she and a group of colleagues provided free eye care to communities in those countries.

When Dr. Boyd is not in the office, she loves spending time with her fur babies, trying new food, and exploring Lake and Mendocino County with her husband and business partner, Kevin.

Advanced technology & modern care

At Konocti View Optometry, staying current isn’t optional—it’s a core part of how we care for you. We use cutting-edge technology to help detect even subtle changes in your eye health early, often before you notice any symptoms yourself.

We believe you deserve care that keeps up with the times. That’s why we regularly invest in modern diagnostic tools, like high-resolution imaging, digital eye scans, and virtual reality testing. We also stay current through continuing education, attending professional training, and reviewing the latest research. The recommendations we make are based on what’s proven to work today—not what worked years ago.

When new techniques or treatments can improve your comfort, vision, or long-term eye health, we thoughtfully bring them into our practice and explain your options in clear, simple terms, so you can feel confident in your care.

-Dr. Emmalena Boyd

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very satisfied with how I was received, diagnosed, and fitted for frames. All were very friendly...and responded with detail to all my questions. I was certainly treated as a valued client. I will not hesitate to return when my next check up is due. It was awesome leaving the office having the staff confirm positively the health of my 70 year old eyes.

She did a very thorough exam and was very helpful with ways to improve my vision. I need very precise vision in both my profession and hobbies. I am grateful to have a very knowledgeable and skilled optometrist who cares about her patients. Thank you Dr. Boyd.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve been going to Dr. Browning and Dr. Lasher for six or seven years now and my insurance never covered my visits until recently. The care and accuracy has been so good that I didn’t want to use the optometrist that was covered by my previous insurance. Now, a great thing to beA patient of that office is even more logical due to great care, and now covered by insurance. I’ll keep going, and recommending to all my friends, family, and associates.
