Dr. Emmalena Boyd
optometrist
It takes much more than a degree to be a successful and loved practitioner. It takes patience, understanding, and true passion for the community. All these things are what make Dr. Boyd an outstanding optometrist. She is paving a path of genuine consideration, talent, and expertise for the eyecare needs of Lake County.
A native of Lake County, Emmalena Boyd, OD returned to her home community after graduating from the University of California at Berkeley, School of Optometry. Her areas of care include providing primary care eye exams, glasses and contact lens prescriptions, glaucoma and macular degeneration management, and diabetic eye exams. She also treats eye infections, dry eye, and double vision, removes ocular surface foreign bodies, and more. Dr. Boyd loves helping her patients of all ages to see better and educating them about their eyes and ocular health.
More about Dr. Boyd
Dr. Boyd is a graduate of Lower Lake High School. She grew up in Lake County and saw the lack of care available in the area. This inspired her to pursue a career in medicine and return home to provide comprehensive eye care to her community.
Beyond this, she has also been on two mission trips to Nicaragua and the Philippines where she and a group of colleagues provided free eye care to communities in those countries.
When Dr. Boyd is not in the office, she loves spending time with her fur babies, trying new food, and exploring Lake and Mendocino County with her husband and business partner, Kevin.
